Installation:

Hardwiring your Co-Pilot to your vehicle's electric system will ensure that The Co-Pilot will be turned ON or OFF as you use your vehicle. However, you have the option to order your Co-Pilot with a plug in cigarette lighter but minimizes the Co-Pilot's ability to function as intended.

We strongly recommend having your local car dealership or a licensed auto mechanic install you Co-Pilot. It’s advisable to have a professional install The Co-Pilot.

Note: Newer model vehicles use ATM/Mini (small fuses) while older vehicles use ATC/ATO (large fuses)

Before you order your installation kit please check the fuse type in your vehicle and send me the info via email when

ordering your Co-Pilot. This will assure the shipment of the proper installation kit.

Steps:

  1. Look for the fuse box/fuse panel.  Fig. 1

  1. Determine the fuse that is energized when car keys are turned on and pull it out.

[Use a voltmeter or a test light to find the fuse that is NOT HOT when the ignition key is in the "OFF" position. You don't want the fuse that's hot when the ignition key is off]. Fig. 2

  1.  Wire the positive [red lead] from The-Co-Pilot to the connector and then the access-a-fuse. Fig. 3

  1. Now slide your access-a-fuse to the fuse panel [replacing the one you took out earlier in step 2. This is very important:  REPLACE AMP FOR AMP if you take out a 10 amp fuse then you need a 10 amp access-a-fuse! Failure to do so may cause a short in your vehicle or fry your Co-Pilot. Fig. 4

  1. Connect the negative [black lead] from the Co-Pilot to a negative ground in your vehicle, like a bolt. [Make sure that the ground is metal and not plastic!] see above Fig. 4

  1. Set The-Co-Pilot on top of your dashboard [with the Velcro provided] or where you are comfortable with it. , For better results try a flat and even area where it’s safe and will not impede your driving ability or vision. TIP: glass amplifies sound. Setting your Co-Pilot close to the windshield might amplify the sound and it might be louder than desired.

  1. Drive safe!
  2. See step #7
